Hormone Replacement Therapy

Through a small incision in the buttocks, patches on the abdomen, applied on the arm if used with gels and creams or orally.

For most women, HRT is an effective way of managing menopause symptoms. It also provides long-term health benefits, reducing the risk of osteoporosis and, for many, heart disease.  The small risks of HRT are generally far outweighed by the benefits.

HRT is an effective way of managing menopause symptoms, such as:

  • Hot flushes and night sweats
  • Low mood and anxiety
  • Brain fog and memory issues
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Painful sex
  • Loss of libido/sex drive
  • Bladder issues
  • Skin, tissue, and joint quality
  • Joint and muscle aches and pains

Before menopause, your ovaries produce three main types of hormones:

  • Oestrogens (for example, oestradiol)
  • Progestogens (for example, progesterone)
  • Androgens (for example, testosterone)

The loss of oestrogens that results in most menopause symptoms. HRT aims to replace the declining levels of estrogen and helps to reduce your menopause symptoms. It also has long-term health benefits, more crucial than ever as women’s life expectancy is increasing.

There are 2 main types of HRT:

  • Combined HRT (estrogen and progestogen)
  • Estrogen-only HRT

There are several ways that estrogen can be taken, including:

  • tablets – which can be taken by mouth
  • a patch that you stick on your skin
  • estrogen gel – which is applied to the skin and absorbed
  • estrogen spray – which is applied to the forearm

Progestogen is available as:

  • combined with estrogen in tablets
  • combined with estrogen in patches
  • separately as tablets or a progestogen releasing coil

Many individuals report improvements within weeks, with full benefits manifesting over months.

Absolutely, we tailor a hormone program based around your needs with frequent office visits, lab follow ups and check ins to ensure our patients are staying on the right track.

The duration a person stays on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) can vary widely and depends on several factors, including individual goals, medical considerations, and other various care plans. HRT is commonly prescribed for other medical conditions such as hormone deficiencies or menopausal symptoms.

Sexual Wellness

Various factors, including physical health, mental well-being, hormonal balance, relationship dynamics, and personal beliefs, can impact a woman’s sexual health.

Common sexual health concerns include low libido, pain during intercourse (dyspareunia), difficulty achieving orgasm, vaginal dryness, and changes in sexual desire or satisfaction over time.

Hormonal changes, such as those occurring during menstruation, pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, and menopause, can influence sexual desire, arousal, and overall sexual well-being.

Certain medications, including antidepressants, contraceptives, and some blood pressure medications, may have side effects that affect and lower sexual desire or function.

Vaginismus is a condition where the muscles around the vagina involuntarily contract, making penetration painful or impossible. Treatment may include counseling, pelvic floor exercises, and sometimes, medical intervention.

Vaginal dryness can result from hormonal changes, medications, or certain health conditions. Treatment may include using lubricants, hormone therapy, or addressing underlying causes.

At Her Way Health & Hormones, we specialize in the best treatment options such as Femiwave, Pelvic Floor Strengthening and arousal creams.

A provider will review your information and recommend treatment, if appropriate.

Treatments can last between 15 and 20 minutes, with many of our past female patients experiencing noteworthy improvements after only a few treatments. After a series of 6 to 12 FemiWave® therapy treatments, you will notice increased sensitivity, lubrication, tightening, and strengthening.

Age can influence sexual health. For example, menopause may lead to changes in hormonal levels and vaginal dryness, impacting sexual comfort. However, women of all ages can experience changes in sexual desire and function.

Weight Loss

The most effective way to lose weight is through a combination of a healthy, balanced diet, good supplement regimen, regular physical activity, and lifestyle changes.

Caloric needs vary, but a common approach is to create a calorie deficit by consuming fewer calories than your body needs for maintenance.

Both diet and exercise play important roles in weight loss. A balanced approach that includes healthy eating and regular physical activity is generally recommended.

Various diets, such as the Mediterranean diet, low-carb diets, and intermittent fasting, have shown effectiveness for weight loss. The best diet is one that is sustainable and meets individual needs.

Weight loss results can vary, but a safe and sustainable rate is generally considered to be 1-2 pounds per week. Rapid weight loss is often not recommended for long-term success.

Chronic stress can impact weight loss by influencing eating habits and hormonal balance. Managing stress through techniques like exercise, meditation, or counseling has been known to be beneficial.

Lack of sleep can disrupt hormonal balance and lead to increased appetite and cravings, making weight loss more challenging. Prioritizing sufficient and quality sleep is important for overall health.

Certain medical conditions and medications can influence weight.

Spot reduction is a common misconception. Weight loss generally occurs uniformly across the body. Strength training can help tone specific areas, but targeted fat loss is not realistic.

Some supplements and vitamin therapy may have a modest impact on weight loss, but they are not a substitute for a healthy diet and exercise. They typically work best in combination.

Vitamin Therapy

Vitamin injections are designed to provide a boost of essential nutrients and minerals that can be absorbed more readily by the body than by taking a pill or consuming animal foods or other sources of vitamins. With vitamin injections, individuals can potentially experience more energy, improved cognitive performance, better sleep patterns, and improved quality of life.

Boost your immunity, regain your energy and mental focus, boost your fat and calorie burning power, and help rebuild muscles for athletic performance.

Your safety is our utmost priority. We always take down a full medical history prior to your first consultation and treatment. In exceptional circumstances, we will ask for written approval by a GP or consultant.

When you inject vitamins, they are introduced directly into your bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system. This can lead to a quicker and more potent effect, as the body absorbs the vitamins more efficiently.

However, it is important to note that injecting vitamins should only be done under the guidance of trained professionals, as too much of certain vitamins can be harmful. Additionally, vitamin injections are not a substitute for a healthy diet and lifestyle.

Before your vitamin injection appointment there are a few things you can do to prepare:

  • Disclose any medical conditions or allergies. It is important to let your us know about any medical conditions or allergies you may have, as this can affect the type of injection and dosage used.
  • Inform us of any medications or supplements you are taking: Certain medications and supplements can interact with the vitamins in the injection, so it is important to let us know about any medications or supplements you are taking.
  • Drink plenty of water: Drinking plenty of water before your appointment can help to hydrate your body.
  • Wear comfortable clothing: Wearing loose, comfortable clothing can make it easier for us to administer the injection.
  • Follow any instructions we provide: Our team may provide specific instructions on what to do prior to the appointment, such as fasting or avoiding certain foods or medications.

Vitamin injections can be injected into several locations on the body, including the upper arm, thigh, or buttocks. The preferred injection site will depend on the individual and the healthcare professional administering the injection.

When administering a vitamin injection, the practitioner will clean the injection site with an antiseptic solution and use a sterile needle to inject the vitamin solution into the muscle tissue. The needle is typically inserted at a 90-degree angle and the injection is administered slowly.

It is important to only receive vitamin injections from a qualified healthcare professional who is experienced in administering them safely.

There may be a slight degree of irritation at the injection site after your chosen treatment is administered via intramuscular IM injections. You may resume normal activities immediately. At your preliminary consultation, you will be supplied with detailed aftercare instructions.

Vitamin injections can play effective roles in certain situations, such as in individuals with malabsorption issues or digestive disorders that may interfere with the absorption of vitamins from food or oral supplement products.

Injectable vitamins can also lead to a more rapid and efficient uptake of the vitamins by the body, as they are absorbed directly into the bloodstream and bypass the digestive system. This can be especially beneficial in cases where immediate treatment is needed, or in individuals who have difficulty taking dietary supplements due to nausea, vomiting, or other issues.

Gut Health

A healthy gut is linked to better digestion, nutrient absorption, and a strong immune system. It can also influence mental health and may contribute to skin health.

The gut and hormones are interconnected. An imbalanced gut microbiome can impact hormonal regulation, potentially contributing to conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or irregular menstruation.

Probiotics, found in fermented foods or supplements, can support a healthy gut microbiome. Consuming a variety of fiber-rich foods, fermented foods (like yogurt and sauerkraut), and staying hydrated can contribute to a healthy gut. They may aid digestion, boost immunity, and contribute to overall gut health.

A diet rich in fiber, prebiotics, and diverse nutrients promotes a healthy gut. Processed foods, excessive sugar, and certain artificial additives can negatively impact gut microbiota.

The gut microbiome may play a role in metabolism and weight regulation. A balanced and diverse gut microbiota is associated with better weight management.

Signs of an unhealthy gut may include digestive issues (bloating, constipation, diarrhea), food intolerances, fatigue, and skin conditions.

Skin Health

Diet can significantly impact skin health. Consuming a balanced diet rich in vitamins, antioxidants, and hydration supports collagen production and helps maintain healthy skin.

Hormonal fluctuations, especially during menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause, can affect skin health. For instance, increased androgen levels may contribute to acne.

There’s a strong connection between gut health and skin. Imbalances in the gut microbiome can contribute to skin conditions like breakouts, acne, eczema, or psoriasis.

Staying hydrated is crucial for skin health. It helps maintain skin elasticity, prevent dryness, and supports the body’s natural detoxification processes. Foods rich in antioxidants, such as fruits, vegetables, and omega-3 fatty acids from sources like fish, can contribute to healthy skin. Collagen-rich foods may also support skin elasticity.

Stress can exacerbate skin conditions like acne and psoriasis. It can also contribute to premature aging by promoting inflammation.

Hormonal contraceptives can influence skin conditions. Some women may experience improvements in acne, while others may notice changes in skin texture or pigmentation.

Pelvic Floor Care

The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that form a supportive sling at the bottom of the pelvis. These muscles play a crucial role in supporting the pelvic organs, including the bladder, uterus, and rectum.

A healthy pelvic floor is essential for sexual function. It supports sexual organs, contributes to orgasmic sensations, and plays a role in sexual response.

Factors such as childbirth, aging, obesity, chronic constipation, and certain medical conditions can contribute to weakening of the pelvic floor muscles.

During menopause, hormonal changes can lead to decreased vaginal lubrication and changes in the pelvic floor. This may contribute to symptoms such as vaginal dryness, pain during intercourse, and decreased sexual desire.

Pelvic floor dysfunction can lead to issues like pain during sex, difficulty reaching orgasm, and challenges with arousal. It may also contribute to conditions like pelvic organ prolapse.

Pelvic floor exercises, commonly known as Kegel exercises, can help strengthen the pelvic floor muscles, potentially improving sexual function, reducing pain during sex, and enhancing orgasmic sensations.

Kegel exercises involve contracting and relaxing the pelvic floor muscles. To perform them, tighten the muscles as if trying to stop the flow of urine and hold for a few seconds before releasing. Regular practice can strengthen these muscles.

Pelvic floor exercises are not exclusive to women. Men can also benefit from strengthening their pelvic floor muscles, which can help with issues like erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation.
